Roger
Salloom "The French call it je ne sais quoi - that something special. An apt phrase to describe singer/songwriter Roger Salloom, whose humor and wit almost eclipse his talented musicianship. The slow songs....are breathtaking." Kendra Thurlow, The Valley Advocate
Roger Salloom will be performing songs from his CD, "Eventually", which received Grammy Award nominations in 8 categories on the 2006 ballot. Salloom is no ordinary musician. He is unique, articulate, incredibly talented, humorous, touching - at times soothing/at times raucous/at times so into the blues that your heart will ache. Roger is predictable only in writing, recording and performing songs that speak directly and intimately to the listener. Some call him an American roots musician, others a balladeer or blues man, and others still, like Rolling Stone Magazine, "a superb story teller with a good sense of rhythm and a great sense of timing and the music is infectious." Salloom defies categories while producing some of the finest music being heard today. Salloom is the subject of a 2006 Grammy-nominated, award-winning documentary by Chris Sautter, So Glad I Made It: the saga of Roger Salloom, American's best unknown songwriter. The film is one of Grammy Magazine's top 16 selections of must see music documentaries of the last five years. Roger has shared the stage with well known performers from a variety of musical genres: Jonathan Edwards, John Prine, Steve Forbert, The Band, Maria Muldaur, Phoebe Snow, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Aztec Two Step among many others.
For Berkshire County fans and friends, Dalton native Tommy Filiault will be playing lead guitar with Roger Salloom. Tommy's county band credits include Burnt Bacon and the Homefries, Lucky Johnson Band, The Chesskings, and the Off Hour Rockers Band. Tommy also played with the Fabulous Heavyweights and appeared with that band in the Tom Hanks movie, "The Money Pit." Juan Vasquez will round out the group on bass guitar. "The writing talent of Dylan or Guthrie...musical genius...hilarious and tragic, kindhearted and careless, all the complexities of a real human being." IMDb "His voice is the most extraordinary thing...His singing casts a spell - your attention is immediately riveted to its smooth, honeyed texture." Kristy Eldredge, GloriousNoise.com "...the most seductive singer ever to seduce these jaded ears. He'll massage your worries into next week." John Lomax, II
