Church - Fenn street side[2].JPG (1020350 bytes)Located in the heart of the beautiful Berkshire Mountains of WesternChurch - Fenn street front[2].JPG (948806 bytes) Massachusetts, the First United Methodist Church of Pittsfield offers it's members and visitors a variety of ways to join in fellowship with one another and worship our Lord.

Our Adult Education Classes and Sunday School takes place at  9 o'clock (September thru June) and Worship Services are held at 10:30  o'clock on Sunday mornings in our Sanctuary (9:30 AM in July and August).  Special Holy Day services are held in our Rev. Each Sunday the children are invited to come down to the altar rail for a special children's message just for them.   Nursery care is provided for infants and children ages five years and younger, under the direct  supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Sunday Worship

        Our Sunday worship is a creative blend of contemporary & traditional music & prayers with thoughtful, scripture-based preaching related to everyday life, supported by:

        Music Program

                    Carol Choir (youth grades 2 and up)
                    Chancel Choir (adult)
                    Aldersgate Bell Ringers
                    Guest musicians, including instrumental and vocal
                         soloists

    Children's Message

             Presented by members of the Congregation are included during the Worship Service

     Communion

            All are invited to participate in Communion during worship the first Sunday of each month, in the Methodist faith, ALL are welcome to the Lord's Table.

    Nursery Care

           A registered nurse supervises our nursery care which is available during the Christian Education and Worship hours.  

    Coffee Hour

                    Fellowship time immediately following worship.

    Also available during worship are 
Hearing Assistance Aids, 
    Large Print Hymnals and Large Print Bulletins.

 

Providing for Spiritual Growth

    Christian Education

                Sundays at 9:00 am for Nursery through Young Adult September thru May

    United Methodist Youth

                Youth Fellowship (grades 6-12) meets Sunday Evenings

    United Methodist Women (UMW)

                Circles for all age groups and interests including a book study group.  
                The UMW also sponsors a Lenten Bible Study.  

    United Methodist Men

                Fellowship for all age groups and interests

    Evergreens

                A social group for those age 55 and older

    Links Program

                Caring contact with homebound and nursing home members and friends

    Suppers, Socials and Fellowship opportunities 
abound year round!

 

Ministering to our Community

    Tuesday's Harvest Table

        Volunteers prepare and serve a community meal every Tuesday at 5:00 PM

    Habitat for Humanity Covenant Church

        We provide financing and work parties for on-going local home construction.  
        In 2001 we proudly completed work on  a duplex for two families and continue 
        to an ongoing relationship of love and support with our Habitat Families.

    Video Ministry to Homebound

        Our services are broadcast locally several times each week on local channel 16 
        and also in-house to patients at  Berkshire Medical Center

    Christian Center

        We offer volunteer and financial support for the local interdenominational social 
        service center

    Boys Scouts of America

        We provide leadership, support and space for Boy Scout Troop 1,  Explorer Post 1 and Cub Scout Pack 1 - we are proud to be the home of one of the first Boy Scout Troops in the country!

    Girl Scouts of America

        We now have a Girl Scout & Brownie Troop that meets in our building

    Pittsfield Area Council of Churches

        Active participant in its ministries and support the fuel fund and CROP Walk

    Community Meetings

        Our large ADA-compliant building is available for use by community groups including     Power Squadron, Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous 

  Common Grounds Coffee House

        Live Music Series held the first Saturday of each month.   Enjoy an evening of delicious
        desserts and live entertainment.
